About
Communications" was founded in the autumn of 1961 by Georges Friedmann, Roland Barthes and Edgar Morin. It became a reference publication on the study of mass communications and semiotic analysis in France, and rapidly acquired an international reputation in this field, which was very central in the 1960s and 1970s. Since the 1980s, "Communications" has broadened its perspective to encompass all questions concerning man and society, focusing on new avenues of research and promoting a demanding trans-disciplinary approach.
