The magazine was founded in 1983 by Jozef De Vos at the Documentation Center for the Dramatic Arts in Ghent. Since 2015, Documenta has been published by S:PAM (Studies in Performing Arts & Media) of the Department of Theatre Science at Ghent University. The editorial board is made up of theater science specialists from various universities and colleges. Christel Stalpaert is editor-in-chief, in collaboration with Jozef De Vos, who directed the magazine for 32 years. Further information: documenta.ugent.be/.
