Biography
Flávia graduated from the Center for the Study of Movement and Arts in Rio de Janeiro (1988/1991) and from the Institute of Muscular and Articular Chains GDS in Brussels (1996/2000). She started in theater; the discovery of contemporary dance made her change artistic discipline. She received the Revelation Award at the 10th Festival de Dança Contemporanea do Rio de Janeiro in 1992. That same year, Flávia presented two short pieces at the 1st Panorama da Dança, directed by Lia Rodriguez. In 1993, she arrived in Europe to participate in a workshop by Ariane Mnouchkine at the Théâtre du Soleil, Paris. In Brussels, she created a choreography for the Bal Moderne in 2000, " O ovo " presented at the Roseraie in 2001, " ABR " at the Espace Senghor in 2002, Danses du Quotidien I - Le Pas de Ville, at the Centre Culturel Jacques Frank in 2003 and at the Beursschouwburg in 2005, Danses du Quotidien II Valse des Familles, at the Théâtre Les Tanneurs in 2006, Danses du Quotidien III Le Pas des Choses, at the Centre Culturel Jacques Franck in June 2007 and Danses du Quotidien I Charleroi / Ville for the Biennale de Charleroi-danses 2009 A documentary film about this project was (co-produced by) and broadcast on ARTE Belgique/ RTBF in November 2009.
