This primer was produced as part of choreographer Louise Vanneste's research project, "Pangée, vers les territoires de l'imaginaire et des pratiques hybrides", supported by the FNRS through the art/research program. Her aim is to emancipate what we call choreography: among other things, she has initiated a practice of literary writing that blends imagination, observation/knowledge and choreographic testimony. Her research interests include somatic practices and the non-human, with the aim of developing an ecology of the senses and the living, as well as the hybridization of practices and knowledge. These reflections invite us to emancipate ourselves from a dualistic way of thinking. Louise Vanneste, in collaboration with Esther Denis and Emmanuelle Nizou, has designed this primer to circumscribe the bibliographical scope of her research and share it with others. It lists a series of key words and text extracts, freely chosen by authors who recur in the work, and forms the basis for cross-readings. A corpus of images, including drawings by Louise Vanneste for Pangée, regularly enriches the different versions of this primer. It also serves as a basis for recorded conversational drifts on research issues: for example, it contributed to an interview published in Culture et Démocratie on questions of imagination and narrative, on the occasion of Journal 55.
