Terres d'enfance: une histoire belge du théâtre jeune public
Creators: Julie Feltz
Children's theater, theater for young audiences... Do you remember those shows you saw when you were younger, which you still remember fondly, even if your memories are a little hazy? Would you like to go behind the scenes of this vibrant part of Belgian theater, which is too often overlooked in theater history? What if we took the time to read a book about the epic story of these companies whose expertise and uniqueness have made Belgium famous internationally, even though we are often unaware of it? I invite you on a journey through time, from the dawn of the 1970s to the present day, exploring the important events in the sector. We will observe the evolution of a profession that is so often kept in the shadows, and the legacies of historic companies and long-established artists who are now passing the baton to the new generation. Whether it takes the form of theater, puppetry, dance, storytelling, musical theater, shadow theater, circus, or other forms, isn't theater for young audiences ultimately one of the last areas of the performing arts where the embers of the ideal of a culture that is both demanding and popular still burn?
