Sismographies du manque
Creators: Myriam Suchet
Sismographies du manque is a work of traces and translations: an attempt to transform emptiness into space. It consists of two forms of writing. On the left-hand page, exploratory lines, rhythmic traces repeated tentatively in small notebooks to ward off loss and absence. A strange yet familiar evocation of Henri Michaux's drawings, Etel Adnan's writings, and Aboriginal dream paintings. On the right-hand page, an attempt at translation through successive bursts and interferences. How can these traces be interpreted without trying to decipher them or make them meaningful? Once reading becomes impossible, how can we begin to see? A snub and a reversed dialogue. The words of the scholar no longer clutter the footnotes. Instead, the lines and the discourse of love serve as a guide to reveal a new cartography: a sensitive constellation of vibrating bodies, of sensations drawing the contours of an intimate universe through emptiness. Numerous authors' voices pepper the text, like friends or guides. While this work deliberately disorients with its composition, it nevertheless offers a feeling of intimacy. The silence of the line and the comfort of the trace. If someone has ever been there before, then I am undoubtedly on the right track. And perhaps, in fact, I am already home.
