Although the Ariadone company is based in Bordeaux, its inspiration comes from much further afield: Bûto dance, originally from Japan, is at the heart of all its choreography. For her first show for young audiences, choreographer Carlotta Ikéda adds other ingredients evocative of the land of the rising sun: to the sound of the Koto and Shamisen, the dancers tell us the fascinating story of a young Japanese monk, Ikkyû.
