Essa Tempestade
Creators: Claudio Bernardo, Jorge Vermelho
For this show, Bernardo draws not only from Shakespeare's The Tempest, but also from Aimé Césaire's A Tempest to confront the history of Brazil, its colonial past and the vivid traces it has left in Brazilian society. It is thus the confrontation of three universes. The choreographer tackles through dance the questions of the relationship to the other, of ethnocentrism and of the vision of the foreigner seen as barbarian. The show was created with more than 20 dancers from the Balé Teatro Castro Alves company from Bahia, where he himself began his career as a dancer.
