Drei Choräle
Creators: Isabella Soupart, Eva-Maria Houben, Julien Lambert
"Drei Choräle" is the first part of a five-part film by choreographer and director Isabella Soupart in collaboration with Flemish music director and pianist Guy Vandromme. The film was presented as part of Klarafestival (the digital experience) on March 18, 2021, TV channel "Podium 19" VRT NU, Proximus Pickx and Dag van de Dans. What happens when a choreographer and a musician make a film in which dance, architecture and the city's soundscape confront and enrich each other? The film operates as an alternative performance space in which the majestic space of the Wild Gallery in Forest forms the setting in which dancer Johanna Willig Rosentein proposes movements from Isabella Soupart's choreographic palette, while pianist Guy Vandromme plays a piano work by Berlin composer Eva-Maria Houben. Ambient sounds creep into the film's soundtrack, notably the integration of dialogue from Antonioni's 'L'Eclisse', complementing the city soundscapes captured by sound designer Roel Snellebrand.
