Erase-E(x) 1,2,3
Creators: Isabella Soupart, Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker
Inspired by the painting ""Erased"" De Kooning Drawing (1953), in which artist Robert Rauschenberg erased a painting by Willem De Kooning in order to reappropriate it, Joji Inc has imagined ERASE-E(X), a relay piece in which each choreographer erases and re-creates the piece of the previous choreographer. The erasure takes place on stage. It's not a negation but a rewriting, where each artist immerses himself in a foreign universe, absorbing it, subtracting from it, adding to it, working on it until he can identify with it. Based on a phrase danced by A.T. de Keersmaeker, the Wooster Group of New York created part 1 (Festival d'Avignon 2004). De Keersmaeker, who used it to create Part 2. Isabella Soupart erases it and creates part 3.
