Final scene
Creators: Jim Clayburgh, Celia Hope Simpson, Johanne Saunier, Florence Augendre
In the continuity of the work begun in Sans la voix des Maîtres (solo 1998), Final Scene, for three dancers, borrows the material of its movements, its soundtrack and its structure from a 1963 film by Kobayashi HARAKIRI. The film is a kind of confession/accusation of a ronin (fallen samurai), told by himself, sitting in the middle of his enemies. The piece, which is in no way narrative, models its structure of movements in the stage space on the gestures and editing of the film. With the desire to be everything and everywhere, the dancers are simultaneously at the center of a choreographic construction and in the invisible characters of the film. Video projections are integrated in the scenic space, they recreate the architecture of the cinematographic images and propose visual limits to the choreography.
