An essay on the necessity of gesture, "How To Act" (Film fiction/dance) questions how gesture can be linked to political or sentimental conflict. A woman moves through a given space; her grace and violence are controlled. She climbs steps, descends them, stops, bumps into a wall, is deflected onto another, bounces, stumbles, then gets up again in an eternal struggle, sometimes silent, sometimes producing deafening, discordant sounds.
