Danser avec: pratiquer la diversité dans la danse
Creators: Gabriel Schenker, Paulina Rosa
"DANCING with" explores how higher education in dance in Europe can actively promote diversity and better embrace the diversity of bodies, histories, and practices that make up our societies. Stemming from a research project conducted between 2023 and 2025 at three institutions—La Manufacture, the Stockholm University of the Arts (SKH), and Performing Arts Research and Training Studios (P.A.R.T.S.) in Brussels—this report analyzes access, inclusion, and the social contribution of Bachelor’s programs in contemporary dance. Through the lenses of decoloniality and intersectionality, it highlights the obstacles and tensions, but also the possibilities for transformation toward greater social justice in European higher education in dance. Inspired by the invitation to “dance with” rather than “dance like,” the collective of authors offers concrete avenues, critical reflections, and recommendations for conceiving and practicing a more horizontal, situated, and open-to-difference dance education.
