Mourn Baby Mourn is a monologue exploring the concepts of mourning and lamentation, both private and collective, and probing the states of being they generate. In three pulsating acts, Katerina Andreou places the words, massive like concrete blocks, or expels them, offensive and spontaneous like projectiles. The text holds a light to the emotional disorders characteristic of our times, marked by the feeling of nostalgia for lost futures. In this vortex-text made of discordant and paradoxical forces, the writing of the Self is an active means of calling-into-existence, an unstable activity and a form of resistance. The text is based on the eponymous choreographic piece by Katerina Andreou created in 2022.
