Ttrance is a term that suggests a connection between multiple cultural occurrences. Cognitive trance, hypnotic trance, Brazilian Candomblé, Mongolian shamanic trance, rave parties, or personal development courses—can we find something ‘common’ in these diverse experiences? These age-old experiences fascinate and are the subject of particular interest both in the artistic world and on a personal level. What can be done with this heritage in the current political context? Could trance, viewed without nostalgia or exoticism, rehabilitate other ways of accessing knowledge that would free us from the constraints of productivity and capitalist normativity? ‘Multiplier les mondes’ (Multiplying Worlds) offers a documentary investigation that brings together the accounts of neuroscientists, anthropologists, initiates and artists... allowing different voices to coexist without concern for exhaustiveness, not to better define but to leave room for ambiguity. ‘Coupé Décalé’ invites us to an immersive experience where sensory and intellectual knowledge merge, between listening, dreaming and contemplation.
