White Spirit
Creators: Marine Bachelot Nguyen, Emilie Monnet, Essia Jaïbi, Karima El Kharraze, Penda Diouf, Marina Keltchewsky
At the invitation of Marine Bachelot Nguyen, six female authors recount their own stories and their intimate relationship with whiteness. They identify the many faces of domination in contemporary societies, describe the violence of racial burden that seeps into the very fabric of our bodies, and unravel the intimate and complex relationship of belonging to marginalized languages and cultures. In these texts, where their experiences of systemic oppression linked to white privilege echo one another, ghosts and liberating spiritual forces emerge. How can we define ourselves across multiple cultures, freeing ourselves from the norms of dominant structures? How can we name and transform what connects us, and together celebrate our heritages?
