Opening Night. A Vaudeville
Creators: Mark Tompkins
"Opening Night" is a poor man's Vaudeville, with just two performers playing all the acts and roles (almost) to themselves. The set, the props, the costumes, the less-than-perfect acts, the two technicians on the prowl: everything suggests that we're in for a rather cheap or trashy production. But as time goes by, a more ambivalent and moving fable emerges, about the joyful but sometimes difficult transmission between an aging Star and her young, talented protégé, ready to do anything to succeed. source: idamarktompkins.com Footage from the premiere at the ImPulsTanz Festival, Vienna.
