Phénoménologie de la danse
Creators: Christine Leroy
This investigation is based on the study of the phenomenon of kinesthetic empathy in dance-theater, to reveal its ethical stakes. The emotional, kinesthetic and gravitational contagion at work in dance, between performers on stage and spectators, is described through the prism of the phenomenology of intentionality and the Merleau-Pontian concepts of "flesh" and synesthetic interlacing. The first part of this essay explores the proprioceptive and carnal nature of the spectator's feeling for what moves the performer on stage. The second part bases the empathic perception of others on the lived-body, in order to attest to the carnal anchoring of ethics and concern for others. The aim of this essay is to highlight the care-care power of choreographic practices through play with gravity, which is initiated by the third stage; such "care" to be understood in an ethical rather than therapeutic sense.
