Up Close !
Creators: Michèle Noiret, Todor Todoroff, Fudetani Ryoya, Patty Eggerickx, Julie Nowak
Defying age and the times, Michèle Noiret returns to the stage with a new solo piece, "Up Close!", which is resolutely contemporary and devoid of any hint of nostalgia. With apparent simplicity, she invents a personal and inspired dance style, in which the body asserts itself with vitality and great expressive power. Without any artifice, she plays with her own image with tenderness, derision, and humor, speaking out, in particular, to denounce the dictates of youth culture with regard to women's bodies. Like a fragmented mirror, the choreographer enjoys losing us in a labyrinthine narrative in the form of a fascinating self-portrait. Characters invite themselves onto the stage and take part in her reflections on dance, creation, and today's society. We meet choreographer Trisha Brown, actress Monica Vitti, writer Marguerite Duras, composer Karlheinz Stockhausen, and Joseph Noiret, writer and father of the choreographer. Filmed at Les Brigittines, Brussels.
