Die Geisterhand
Creators: Antonin De Bemels, Barbara Pereyra
If you don't come to Lagardère,... In May 2020, measures taken to contain the coronavirus prevented us from performing Whispers at Leipzig's Westflügel Theater. At the Theater's request, the Compagnie invited the audience and anyone else willing to play along, to make a clip with the relationship between head and hand as its sole theme: foreign hand, phantom hand, outgrowth of a multiple body with sometimes contrary intentions, duplication within oneself... Proposals were received throughout the summer from Belgium, Germany, France, Sweden and Turkey, and little by little a desire to bring these solitudes together took shape. Antonin de Bemels, who also took part in the exercise, then composed a fresco bringing together these intimacies, digging out the resonances between them to, as he puts it, "try to reconnect all these disparate bodies and body parts". Die Geisterhand bears witness to a strange era when solitude was synonymous with solidarity, when the Tuareg culture's injunction: "Move the tents away, bring the hearts closer together" was followed to the letter. source: mossoux-bonte.be
