High Noon

Following the solo piece “Noon,” a collaboration between Erika Zueneli and pianist Denis Chouillet, “High Noon” emerged from a desire to explore, through ensemble composition, the physical and metaphysical world inspired by E. Hopper. To immerse themselves in that particular light, to play on the ambiguity of relationships, to express the underlying tension that emanates from these contrasting solitudes, and to find within each person that lost individual whom the painter seems to present as representative of society. This leads one to question one’s own identity—who one is and what one represents.
