In her solo i-clit, Mercedes Dassy takes to the stage in a bodysuit, bare legs and a faux-fur jacket on her back. She lip-syncs a Beyoncé track, "twerke", to a Véronique Sanson remix, while wearing a glittery silicone mask over her face. The artist plays with feminine references and archetypes, breaking them down and opening the door to new feminist imaginaries. Oscillating between forms of oppression and emancipation of the body, her piece questions the paradoxes of this new wave of feminism specific to her generation: a feminism that is pop, ultra-connected and ultra-sexed. With her piece i-clit, Mercedes Dassy received the 2018 Jo Dekmine Prize and established herself as one of the emerging artists on the Belgian scene.
