Le Jardin marks Peeping Tom's first creation for the stage. The piece is a diptych consisting of a film - shot in an African nightclub in Brussels - and a dance piece. Le Jardin was created by Gabriela Carrizo, Franck Chartier and Simon Versnel, and premiered on June 13, 2002 in Victoria (Ghent, BE). Between 2002 and 2008, the play toured Europe. Le Jardin is also the first part of a trilogy and is followed by Le Salon (2004) and Le Sous Sol (2007). In Le Jardin, the most diverse and singular characters are immersed in the nightlife, in a cabaret atmosphere. This dream or nightmare evokes a world without barriers. In the live performance, three characters from the film reappear in a well-kept garden where another reality begins. The confrontation between the young couple and an old man wonderfully evokes the weight of the flesh, the tragedy of failed lives.
