Vai e passa

The passage slips away from our eyes, at the heart of “Vai e passa,” which literally means “Go and pass” in Italian. For this new work, inspired by Virginia Woolf’s legendary novel *The Waves*, choreographer Erika Zueneli places her five dancers in a simple, abstract space in constant flux. They themselves never cease to traverse it, appearing and disappearing—alone or in groups—like waves that crash onto the beach and discreetly recede, only to resurface again and again. A choreography that captures the frantic pace of the world as well as the fleeting nature of life and the resulting urgency to act, to be, to do. A constant struggle against time, grounded in rigorous rhythmic work yet giving pride of place to humor and poetry.
